The author and enduring wife of 57 years live on a farm located about eight miles Southeast of Rolla and just eight miles from his birthplace. The farm was the former homestead of her paternal Grandfather. He plays at farming with an old tractor with equipment for bushogging weeds and brush and for the preparing of wildlife food plots while the main acreage is leased for hay cropping. He hunts for buster tom turkeys and is still in search of the monster buck whitetail. After 37 years of engineering and management experience in the industrial world he retired in 1985 to the farm. The author writes essays and as a volunteer tells tall tales to schoolchildren about World War II and how life used to be.
