George J. Carroll was born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1924. When WW2 broke out he was drafted and after basic training he was selected to attend advanced demolition school and after completion was assigned to a Combat Engineers Battalion and sent to Europe. During his tour of duty he was promoted to buck sergeant. His Battalion fought throughout France, Holland and Germany and they were awarded two battle stars. He was with General Patton’s 3rd Army when the war ended.

He returned home in 1945 and married his high school sweetheart in 1946. They had six children, six grand children and eight great grand children.
