Biography:
J.J. Chambliss received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1959. He has been a professor at Rutgers University since 1962. He is the author of The Origins of American Philosophy of Education (1968), Imagination and Reason (1974), Educational Theory as Theory of Conduct (1987), and The Influence of Plato and Aristotle on John Dewey’s Philosophy (1990). He has served as the Editor of John Dewey’s Lectures, Philosophy and Education in Their Historic Relations (1993), as well as for Philosophy of Education: An Encyclopedia (1996).
