After teaching English for nearly forty years, Susan Thurin can’t resist editing yet one more manuscript. Her own writing is influenced by teaching and travel, a hybrid which took root when she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia and grew during years in England, China and Sweden. Her publications include Victorian Travelers and the Opening of China, 1842-1907; Nineteenth-Century Travels 1835-1910: The Far East; and numerous essays on Victorian novels and travel literature. Her retirement leisure is devoted to family, gardening, travel, and learning the piano.
