The author of the biography of the Gangkar incarnation, Minyag Gonpo was born in 1922 near 'Bo Gangkar mountain in the lower part of Minyag ringmo. After becoming a monk when he was five, Gonpo studied with and served Gangkar Rinpoche uninterruptedly for 28 years and maintained a connection with him as spiritual friend for an additional ten years. He is recognized as a poet and the most talented of Gangkar Rinpoche’s students. As an editor and writer at the National Minorities Library in Beijing, he works with rare Tibetan texts. He also teaches, serves as advisor for Tibetan studies publications and is the author of Short Biographies of Tibetan Masters.
