As research for Just Go!, Joyce Barnett and Carol Heilman traveled into the remote northwest mountains of Haiti with Steve and Judy Revis, a missionary couple who love Jesus and the Haitian people.

Carol Guthrie Heilman has contributed articles concerning the Revis couple’s work to The State Newspaper of Columbia, SC, the Times and News of Hendersonville, NC, and the magazine Alive!

Carol, raised in coal mining camps of Eastern Kentucky, is a retired elementary schoolteacher. Her Appalachian roots have especially influenced her fictional writings.

While living in Irmo, SC, Carol formed a local chapter of the South Carolina Writers’ Workshop and taught senior adults creative and autobiographical writing.
