Chuck Farritor attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse on a prairie side hill and did his high school homework by the light of a kerosene lamp. It is accepted that cowboys make good sailors. He saw service on most of the seven seas in the Army Transportation Corps and its successor the Military Sea Transport Service. He first migrated to California on a sea tug out of Honolulu. When he came home from the sea, he was, for 40 years, a builder of homes and schools in California. He lives in Claremont, California, with his wife, Muriel.
