Pegi Handley now writes full time from her home in California, not far from where this story takes place. She is working on her second novel, LIFE IN TUCKER and a series of childrens books, THEM UGLY BEARDENS, about children in foster homes. She lives with her husband, Jim, who teaches for Porterville Schools. They have a menagerie of animals and breed Persian cats.
