Bruce Maier lives with his wife, Sandra, their children James, Gregory and Samantha, their dogs Bandit and Boxel Rex, and their cat Nemo in Shoreham, Long Island, New York. Bruce is a lifelong computer geek who wrote his first computer program in 1968, a compiler in 1971, and a DBMS in the late 1970s. He graduated with a Bachelor in Computer Science from SUNY Stony Brook in 1976. His first job was supporting a Timesharing system for schools. He owned and operated a software firm from 1976 to 1988. At present he works for NYC Transit Authority.
