John K. Thompson was born in Carrot River, Saskatchewan in 1923. He spent most of his childhood and teen years on the family homestead in Arras, B.C. The only abundance was scarcity and hard work was a way of life.

John had very little formal education but became a lifelong lover of learning. He was an avid reader with an amazing capacity for retaining a wealth of detailed information.

He married Gladys Carter and in 1961 they relocated their family to southwestern British Columbia.

John was a quiet man of integrity who loved the Lord, his family music, literature and nature’s beauty.
