William Carroll entered eternal rest and peace on March 26, 2010. He was born in 1936 in New York. Shortly after his birth, he was bundled up by his mother and an aunt and deposited at the farm in Virginia owned by his grandparents. William Carroll grew up on a farm, but he lived to travel beyond his county, state, and nation. He earned three college degrees and retired as a college professor. Friends knew “Dr. Bill,” as a poet, author, mentor, husband, father, grandfather, and gardener. His favorite retort was “I’m in great shape for the shape I’m in.”
