After early scientific careers with the University of Michigan Great Lakes Research Division, the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office, and the NSF Great Barrier Reef Photorespiration Expedition, Tony Hough taught and researched for 34 years as a professor of biology at Wayne State University, publishing numerous journal articles and book chapters in marine and freshwater ecology, and mentoring nine doctoral and four master students. Now a professor emeritus, Dr. Hough and his wife live in Michigan including summer visits with extended family on Elk Lake near the setting of his novels Halcyon Fury and No Swimming.
