Biography:
Dr. Delpha Charles coined the word “AfroCaro” to describe herself and Caribbean natives of African descent. She was born in Montserrat and grew up in Antigua. After becoming a citizen of America, she labeled herself an AfroCaro¬¬-American. Dr. Charles holds a Ph.D. (University of Miami), a Master’s (New York University), a Bachelor’s (Howard University). She was a Professor of English for twenty years at Miami¬-Dade College and a Professor of English at Oakwood College, Huntsville. She was a lecturer at Florida International University, at the University of Miami, at Howard University, and at Lehman College.
