Biography:

Hilda van Stockum (1908 - 2006) was a celebrated author and illustrator of books for children and young adults. She published more than twenty-five books during her lifetime, including A Day on Skates (1934), for which she took Newbery Honors, and The Winged Watchman (1962), which received the Brotherhood Award of The National Conference of Christians and Jews. Her books are known for their themes of tolerance, nature and family and have reached audiences across the globe.
