San Jose, California
Biography:

Although I was born in Northern Texas, my parents migrated to Northern California when I was young. I spent many summers during my development years in Oklahoma and Texas. The variety of value systems was an eye-opener for me as an adolescent attempting to understand the differences between country-culture and suburban California.
The inspiration for this book came from watching my daughter grow and develop. My daughter showed me that feminism isn’t the desire for dominance or superiority - It is a movement toward equality.
Mr. Stowens is a composite of the gender relationships I witnessed in Oklahoma and Texas.

This story is a look at how girls deal with the stereotyping they endure in a male dominated society. Henry Stowens is a middle aged Cattle Wrangler in the small town of Vinita, Oklahoma. In his lifetime he developed an almost misogynist view toward women. The story begins with Henry arguing with his eight-year-old son’s teacher. This begins a chain of events that leads to a change in Henry’s life. This carries Henry on a 10-year, 2000 mile journey that teaches him true value of women in society. Henry is bounced through adventures in a pin-ball game of life. Henry’s transition – although forced – provides him an opportunity to experience gender discrimination in a unique way. read more
