Native to Washington, D.C., Sharon Patricia Burtner has also lived in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Brasilia, Brazil and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. One of two daughters, Sharon also has two daughters, Celeste and Freesia. Her sister is the conceptual artist Cary Burtner.
