Biography:

Bettye Oliger Fox is of French/Indian descent and has two undergrad degrees in English/Speech from Harding University and a second undergrad degree in Film/Photography from Southern Methodist University. She has two graduate degrees: one masters in Speech/Theater from the University of Arkansas, and another Masters in English from Texas Woman’s University. Bettye Fox has traveled throughout Europe, Vietnam, Africa (Tanzania), and is soon to travel to Cairo, Egypt and the Holy Land. She has one daughter, also a writer, and three dogs: two labs and one Blue Heeler. Her true home will always be Kauai Island, Hawaii.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens was a young man of thirty when he boarded the sail-steamer Ajax on March 7, 1866, to venture on an ocean voyage to the Hawaiian Islands as a roving reporter for The Sacramento Union. He had not yet written Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, or Life on the Mississippi. He was poor and not yet internationally known. His Sandwich Islands venture would become the catapulting event that would fire Mark Twain from roving reporter to famous speaker to famous writer, enabling him to ascend to the heights of literary greatness. read more
