Dennis Depcik was born and raised on the near south side of Chicago in the blue collar community of Bridgeport. Shortly after graduating from Loyola University of Chicago, he entered the U.S. Army Infantry Officer Candidate School (OCS). After completing OCS, he was assigned as an Armed Forces Courier at USAREUR Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany and delivered classified material throughout Western Europe during the height of the Vietnam War.
Widowed after forty-one years of marriage to Maggie, the only woman he ever loved, the author continues to live in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove, Illinois, near his four children and six grandchildren.
