Ely Javillonar Marquez spent most of her career teaching linguistics at Immaculata University and ESL at Community College of Philadelphia. She holds a Ph.D. degree in linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and M.A. in comparative literature from the University of the Philippines. F. T. Marquez was with Temple University for three decades, teaching advertising, communication research, and mass media courses. He has a Ph.D. degree in mass communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and MBA in marketing from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Both EJM and FTM studied at the University of the Philippines for their undergraduate degrees.
