Alma Okeshia was born in Orville, Alabama. Her father and stepmother adopted Alma, born premature, weighing 4 lbs. Alma as a child experienced many hardships, she was born sickly and remained sickly most of her life and often spoke of her clinical death. Alma is the Mother of nine children, six sons and three daughters. Alma has recorded several spirituals and has had poems published. She writes short stories, poetry, spirituals and country songs. This autobiography, Darker Than A Thousand Midnight’s, is my account of the strength and courage God has given me.
