James Taugner was born and educated in Chicago, the locale of A Question of Guilt. In 1988 he relocated to Texas, and while there, he began writing short fiction. His first story won the fiction award in the annual creative arts contest of Southwest Texas College and appeared in the 1990 edition of their magazine The Palm’s Leaf. Since then his work has been published in numerous literary and small circulation magazines. His study of the justice system in-spired him to write this novel. He is currently living in the Chicago area.
