A note from the Author

“A Shot at the Title” is a work of fiction. It was my interpretation of what life was like back in 1906.

The true saga of The Fighting Wagners has been written over the years in various newspapers. There were several testimonials and awards given in their name. I was very fortunate to have shared in their glory.

To date there is but one Fighting Wagner living, Phillip Sarubbi. I visited with him before I began to write this novel. It is at this time I wish to acknowledge him for sharing all of his scrapbooks, photographs and fascinating stories of each and every one of the eleven brothers who fought in Greenwich Village.
