Chad: I began going from doctor to doctor searching for a real diagnosis for my pain. Mom’s doctor claimed it was" Irritable Bowel Syndrome”. La de da. What’s that....a name for what doctors’ don't have knowledge of? Another doctor reflected that my illness might be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I endured a battery of exploratory exams. None of the doctors could pinpoint the origin of my intestinal pain.
Dr. Lesniuk, a naturopathic, took a live blood cell analysis and diagnosed me with Candidadiasis. homeopathic herbs, vitamins, and acupressure were prescribed. I felt terrible for two weeks (the cleansing of my colon was occurring). For the next two weeks I was free from pain and elated, until the pain commenced again. I couldn’t afford to return to Dr. Lesniuk for further treatment because the treatments were not covered by my health insurance plan. Later, when I accumulated some more money, I visited Dr. Palabar. He did the live blood cell analysis twice over time and also diagnosed me with Candidadiasis.
I went to see a gastroentologist, Dr. Contic, at the Royal Mary Hospital. More tests were completed. Those tests showed unexplained inflammation of the bowel. I was prescribed anti-inflammatory, which didn’t ease the pain at all. I kept changing my diet in hopes of finding a miracle solution.
Mom: Chad’s friends gradually vanished because all Chad could talk about was the state of his intestinal pain and his latest diet.
Adam stuck by him as best he could. They were friends for 13 years. Trent and Adam would visit Chad in the hospital. It would be a familiar sight to see Chad in his blue, open-backed hospital gown eating grapes.
This began the deterioration of a super intelligent, talented and envied young man. My son’s life was gradually disintegrating before my eyes.
