The name Easter comes from the ancient name Ishtar, which was a fertility goddess’ name in Babylonian times. To make matters more confusing, Easter is always celebrated on a Sunday because of the solar equinox. This is in direct opposition to the biblical Passover feast. Passover is determined by the lunar calendar thus making the day of celebration different every year. One must count two weeks from the new moon of the first month to identify Passover day. The Messiah Yahshuah followed this lunar calendar. In the beginning, Genesis 1:5, days started anew at sunset and ended at sunset. It is recorded that only the seventh day was blessed and set apart as holy, Genesis 2:3. The Messiah Yah’shuah gave the sign of Jonah when asked to provide a sign, three days and three nights in the belly of the earth, Matthew 12:40. The equivalent is 72 hours. Christian doctrine teaches Friday evening to early Sunday morning is how long the Messiah Yah’shuah was in the grave. This would only be 36 hours total. The Messiah Yah’shuah was required to fulfill everything pertaining to Passover feast, Luke 24:44. Therefore, this Christian doctrine is invalid and misleading people. Leviticus 23:7 explains Passover is on the 14th day of Nisan, while the following day was the beginning of the Matzah week, it was a Sabbath – no work was allowed because it they were all resting. Additionally, the last day of the Matzah week was a Sabbath – no work – same as a day of rest. That week of his death, there were three Sabbaths, first day of Matzah, weekly Sabbath day, and the last day of Matzah. Though Christians have this information in their Bible, it is overlooked. Why? I believe it is because of the influence of Catholic Church’s theology that stigmatized Hebrew ideas and context as legalistic and or cursed.
Mark 11 Narrative It is in accordance to Christian tradition that the Messiah Yah’shuah died on a Friday. But before that, he must be recognized as a “spotless sacrifice.” This required him to be tested. We see this theme near the end of all the gospel narratives. The start of this testing is when he enters Jerusalem on the donkey. Christians call this day Palm Sunday. It would have been five days before his death. Mark 11:11, He entered Jerusalem and left shortly after because it was late meaning the sun was setting. The start of a day was at sunset therefore we need to recognize in Israel the Sabbath day started Friday night continuing to Saturday night. He left the temple like everyone else because the Sabbath was starting, at sunset. Mark 11:12, He comes back to the Temple in the morning and cleanses it from all the merchants. It would only make sense for the Messiah Yah’shuah to cleanse the temple on the Sabbath day because it was a day for rest, worship, and total devotion to God. Remember, He has to be in the grave for 72 hours (according to the sign He gave – sign of Jonah). The day he entered Jerusalem and left because it was late was Friday. Let’s count forward the five days of examination: Friday night to Saturday night – 1 day Saturday night to Sunday night – 2 day Sunday night to Monday night – 3 day Monday night to Tuesday night – 4 day Tuesday night to Wednesday night – 5 day
According to this timeline, count how long the Messiah Yah’shuah was supposed to be in the grave: If He died on Wednesday night (3pm). Wednesday 3pm to Thursday 3pm – 24 hrs Thursday 3pm to Friday 3pm – 48 hrs Friday 3pm to Saturday 3pm – 72 hrs Explanation: The Messiah Yah’shuah had the Last Supper or Passover dinner on Tuesday night at sunset because this would be when it started if His testing began Friday night. He was betrayed, arrested and put on trial early Wednesday morning. Matthew 27:45 tells us, from noon to 3pm the land was covered in darkness and around 3pm he died.
The Lamb of God died as Passover was ending and Matzah was beginning.
Matzah was a weeklong feast that started and ended with a Sabbath day, Leviticus 23:7. Luke 23:54, ‘it was Preparation Day and a Sabbath was about to begin…’ Christian theologians assumed Yah’shuah died on Friday because theologians knew the Sabbath day was Saturday in Israel. Luke does not say the weekly Sabbath but “a” Sabbath was beginning. It was the Matzah Sabbath.
In Matthew 12:40, the Messiah Yah’shuah says “He would be in the grave for 72 hours.” When the ladies came His grave with spices, after the weekly Sabbath, he was already raised. Early Sunday morning is when they witnessed that the tomb was empty, not when he actually rose. Hence, the tradition of having a sunrise service on Easter day is absolutely from the Romans who worshipped the sun.
1. Palm Sunday should be Palm Friday; 2. Good Friday should be Good Tuesday; 3. Resurrection Sunday should be on the weekly Sabbath.
Current church theology denies the Hebrew context by misleading us away from the points of reference the Messiah Yahshuah gave us! The process to understanding these conflicting perspectives is look at what the Messiah told us, His words will be confirmed by the Old Testament, then look at mainstream teachings and contrast the two. Finally, ask yourself why does mainstream teachings differ? What is the reasoning for it? Why do Christians congregate on Sunday? Due to Constantine, Christians met on Sunday because they received their rule of practices from the Roman Church. Initially, Catholicism started in Rome where the people worshipped the Sun. After all, Sun-day was known as the day of the Sun!
Concluding, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, God limited mankind’s existence as a knowledgeable being by kicking them out of Eden and forbidding them to eat from the tree of life. That limitation was set to 6,000 years. I believe we are rapidly approaching that mark due to mankind’s thirst for knowledge, we will soon reach the pinnacle and downward is the only option. Related to the limitation is the influence of Satan, who originally tempted Adam and Eve. Satan has power over kingdoms and uses it to deceive us from truly experiencing the truth. With the completion of the Messiah Yahshuah’s life, death and resurrection, Satan was stripped of his kingdom authorities and we see on earth the slow transition from Satan’s dominion to YHVH’s dominion. The book of Daniel describes a fifth kingdom. It is YHVH’s and it hinges on the Torah.
