Angela Quinn, with her incredible blue eyes, thick, wavy, auburn hair, was nothing short of a knock-out. “Thanks for the rescue”, she said.

Abstract:
When Matthew mysteriously loses control of his car and crashes to his death, he leaves behind a wife and baby daughter. Now in her 40’s, that daughter has spent her life avoiding what she calls ‘complications’, but when she meets the beautiful Angela her family and friends hope Mattie will change. Mattie, however, is not the only one not living her life to the fullest, for Angela, appearances to the contrary, is limited by demons of her own. When Mattie finally learns the truth about her father and his death she can allow herself to see the truth about her life.

COBALT ON A RAINY DAY is one of only two books that I have ever purchased due solely to the title. The other was I AM THE ONLY RUNNING FOOTMAN by Martha Grimes, and I concluded that the title was the very best thing about it. But not so with COBALT. I was very pleasantly intrigued from the very outset, where the author discloses the origin of such a beckoning title in her acknowledgments. As the story unfolded, after a mysterious prologue, I found myself to be deeply interested--emotionally invested--in the developing relationship between "Mattie" and "Angela". The entire tale was so true-to-life that it was difficult for me to believe that I was reading fiction. The things the characters say and do in this novel are the things that REAL people say and do. I very much recommend this book, and I think it would make an excellent movie--think MULHOLLAND DRIVE without the creepiness.
