Abstract:
Generations come and generations pass away, but the earth abides forever forms the theme of Willamette County.

Dr. John Wesley Oberlin returns to the farm where he lived his life until attending college and beginning a teaching career at University of California, Berkeley. The weekend involves a class reunion and memories of his youth.

Dr. Oberlin relives his life and recalls the tales told by his grandfather, a son of Donation Land Claim settlers. Through all, the land remains, unchanged by civilization, a root that fills his life with meaning, and that of his lost love who remained behind.
