Abstract:
“Penance of the Pereni” is set in a realm both foreign and familiar. A medieval fantasy that possesses many common elements of the genre such as monsters, large-scale battles and endearing characters, it explores the world of fantasy by a pathway as yet untraveled. Its hero, an aging wizard, was once a villain who committed a terrible wrong against a young mystic and his countrymen. Now a vengeful demon, the mystic abandons his role as protector and assumes that of the conqueror, eventually meeting his hated foe in a climax that challenges the very concepts of good and evil.
