Abstract:
From an early age, Anna Tjaden (Jay-den) experienced that farm life was full of hardship, but with love, kindness and patience, she found she could overcome the backbreaking demands. She further discovered a simple happiness as a young woman when she found a strong man devoted to her, but poor. They fell in love, married, and settled on a small farm in northern Iowa where they toiled to scratch out a living—a harsh and strenuous life. Over years, she gave birth to three daughters and one son, and then gave unselfishly as a mother and wife. Anna knew how to set the example by remaining strong and committed.
