Warning! -- Don't start reading this book unless you have the time to finish it in the near future. Being a "distant cousin" of the author may have a small influence on my jusgement but any reader will have to find it fascinating. After reading it, you will have to agree that the drive of the author to "find" his mother (that he never knew) eventually led him to know more about her and her HUGE family than most of us know about ours. Not only doew "Nannie" trace the history of this familly with 17 members, it describes the living conditions of the late 19th to late 20th century. Can you even imagine doing the laundry for nime people (at home at one time) with no washing machine and no electric iron? No matter how many children your ancestors had during this period, you can learn how they lived by reading this book.
