Abstract:
Anessa is dealing with divorced parents, a new dad, and a nasty step-brother. Her classmates are into makeup and popularity, and her friends are talking about boys. Anessa wants no part of any of it, but she also wants to “belong.” Why does growing up have to be so hard?

On her eleventh birthday, Anessa gets, of all things, a mirror. “Oh, great,” she sighs, “just what I need.” But to her astonishment, it is. It’s a magic mirror full of secrets and surprises.
