A decades old account of a deadly incident on a Hawaiian beach catapults an ex-Army officer and an unusual cadre of allies into a desperate search for the truth.

Abstract:
In the days immediately following the surrender of Japan ending World War II, there was whispered speculation that an effort had been made to arrange a ‘demonstration’ of the destructive power of the atomic bomb prior to its actual use. The purpose of such an event would be to convince Japanese officials that further resistance was suicidal. “Episode at Helemano” is a story of how that effort might have been compromised and its resulting impact on the lives of those who, years later, were thrown together in an attempt to uncover the long buried truth.

Episode at Helemano is an enjoyable and quick read. This book brings to light the heroism of the US codebreakers during WWII and how they were purposely forgotten. It also raises the moral question, can one unsrupulous officer change the couse of world events and get away with it? The protaganist seeks to, if not right the wrong, at least reveal the true nature of the book's villian before he given placed in the ultimate position of power.
