Abstract:
In the days immediately following the surrender of Japan ending World War II, there was whispered speculation that an effort had been made to arrange a ‘demonstration’ of the destructive power of the atomic bomb prior to its actual use. The purpose of such an event would be to convince Japanese officials that further resistance was suicidal. “Episode at Helemano” is a story of how that effort might have been compromised and its resulting impact on the lives of those who, years later, were thrown together in an attempt to uncover the long buried truth.
