Abstract:
In the first year of the Civil War, a blunder by Union agent J.B. Carver results in a military fiasco at Bull Run. To redeem himself, Carver must capture the Lizard, an elusive swindler wanted for robbing the War Department.

The Lizard’s trail leads Carver to Kentucky, a volatile border state. Along the way Carver must avoid hostile locals, a rival agent, and a ruthless tycoon who will stop at nothing to see the Lizard dead. What begins as a routine mission soon becomes a treacherous struggle for survival and redemption.
