In the years following World War II, there was a population of young African-American men and women who swelled the campuses of the small segregated colleges in the southland.

Abstract:
Dear Honeybunches chronicles a young African-American woman’s experiences at a southern college after World War II, and the challenges, hopes, love and excitement she encounters on her four years journey.

The story opens in 1948 as Leigh Price, seventeen years old from New York City, arrives at a small, segregated college nervous yet thrilled to begin her new life. As the four years progress, she meets challenges and obstacles to her well-being and happiness. Leigh joins a sorority and goes through the rituals needed for acceptance. Connie, her sorority sister, is driven in her resolve to maintain her hold on Adam, a student and former veteran, who Leigh has fallen for.
