Jackie sabía que si iba a encontrar felicidad en su vida tenía que salirse de los tentáculos de ‘la familia’ – pero ¿cómo lograr algo que podría costarle la vida?

Abstract:

She did it again! , 10/29/2007

Christina Brett has done it again! The Spanish version of her "Old Sins Cast Long Shadows" - soon to be a major motion picture - is excellent! The true story of a Mafia daughter, Jackie Quaglia, is one of those stories that is both gripping and perceptive. Brett shows with great upper-hand the struggles that Jackie goes through in order to please her father and keep her sanity. I recommend this book highly, and if you don't read Spanish, read the English counterpart "Old Sins Cast Long Shadows" and you will become Brett's fans forever. I know there is another book that will come out soon and I am waiting eagerly for it. Well done!

  Smashing story! , 10/29/2007

I knew that the Spanish version of Christina Brett's second book would be good because her use of that language is perfect --- but frankly, it goes beyond my expectations. Well translated, well put together, beautiful cover, and knowing that it will be a major motion picture in early 2008 gives you an idea of its contents. I like everything that Christina Brett writes and will keep reading her in Zwahili if she ever writes in that language! I highly recommend it.

An excellent read. Christina Brett takes you deep into the inner workings of a Mafia family. The cold calculating mind set of the Don sends his daughter into a moral slide that takes her to the gates of hell. This story based on fact give the reader a look at the busness side of being a paid assassin. Don't miss this book.

It gives you goosebumps! , 01/31/2008
Reviewer: Ana Cervantes
When you read this book remembering that it is based on the true life of a Mafia woman you really get goosebumps. The way the author describes each hit is so realistic that you ARE actually there with an assassin whose soul wants to be somewhere else. "Jackie" followed her father's teachings because she was afraid of his ruthlessness, and although she doesn't want to be in that predicament, her work is flawless. She becomes the best in a "family" of heartless, truly horrible people whose Don - her own father - taught her to kill without remorse to fit his own selfish wishes. Christina Brett has written three more books (fiction) but this one is special because it's not only flawlessly written but also based on an actual person. Ana Cervantes, High School teacher
