Sojourn at the Crossroads is a genealogical glance at four families--Hartley, Reed, Fitzgerald, and Johnson--who settled in Indiana in the nineteenth century and were joined by marriages.

Abstract:
Sojourn at the Crossroads is a genealogical glance at the lives of four families--Hartley, Reed, Fitzgerald and Johnson--who settled in Indiana in the nineteenth century. As a case study in American migration, it traces their moving to the “crossroads of America” and beyond. The initial narrative part of the book is followed by 300 pages of genealogical reports, and includes nearly 4000 descendants (and their spouses) of John Hartley of Marsden, Lancashire, whose grandsons came to America in 1700. The book has 26 genealogical reports, 11 ancestor charts, 6 maps, and several pictures.
