Abstract:
Back in ‘97, I wrote this book about a crippled man who had myeloma and needed a stem cell transplant. Meanwhile my younger brother Loyd Childs, a missionary to Thailand, retired last year to Idaho.

This summer I decided to update my references, finish my book. Then I learned that Loyd has myeloma and had gone through radiation and chemotherapy. Later, he found out he also needs a stem cell transplant. I have included much of his emails in the back of the book, because my fictitious story parallels his experiences – without an Alphonse.
