The Revolutionary War was violent beyond imagination. It was a time of bravery and brutality; courage and cowardice; trust and treason. Georgia was immersed in it all!

Abstract:
The British occupation of the South began in Georgia and the early Georgia events are significant. The Battle of Kettle Creek stemmed the British advance for a time, but eventually Georgia was conquered, and was returned to the status of royal colony.

The Georgians moved out of their state and confronted the enemy in North and South Carolina. They took a decisive role at Fort Thicketty, Wofford’s Ironworks, Musgrove’s Mill, Blackstock’s and many other battles. When the two most important American victories in the south were fought at King’s Mountain and Cowpens, the Georgians were there.

This is their story.
