Abstract:
Tom Dalton, a shy, white, mid-thirties bachelor from Tampa—self-employed, near-genius computer programmer, rents a car from an attractive, mid-twenties light-skinned black clerk at Avis. Having served him before, she asks where he is going this time. When he says, “Dallas,” she squeals “Really? I’m going their tomorrow by Greyhound.”

To which he replies absently, scanning an insurance brochure on the counter, “You should come with me then; it’ll be a lot more comfortable.”

With those few words Tom unwittingly enters a world of mess-ups, misunderstandings and fun mixed with serous adult issues affecting us all.
