"Sea Clearwater" is a breath of fresh air. Author, Selene Cardenas, at 13 had the insight to diligently pursue writing this exceptional adventure story with magic, wizards, and more imagination than one can imagine.
Personally, I usually do not read fantasy. However, in this case, I read and re-read "Sea Clearwater" with interest and delight. Selenene is able to take you on an adventure of good vs. evil where every chapter has a hook, and you do get hooked.
As she covers romance, intrigue, wars, mystical creatures and adventure, you are waiting for the resolution. And with amazement on my part, she does resolve the numerous sub-plots along the way.
I have referred to it as the next "Harry Potter" series and I believe that will be the case. Selene is working on the sequel in the Clearwater Series.
Even if you purchase this as a chapter book to read to your 2nd and 3rd graders, you will be caught up in the plot.
The book is written with good principles as well as adventure and enjoyable for all ages--even mine which is long past the young adult market.
