Abstract:
A Thousand Drifts of Snow: Ancient Chinese Poetry is a new English translation of well-known and important classical Chinese poems, dating from 600 BCE to the Seventeenth Century. It presents the writings of about 75 poets. The selection of over 230 poems encompasses a wide range and depth of Chinese poetic inspiration and reveals the innermost feelings of the poets through the centuries. This comprehensive collection covers the major schools of Chinese classical poetry, within each major genre and period. Through a faithful translation with appropriate rhymes, the essence and identity of the originals are preserved.
