A retired aerospace physicist recalls his adventures in Australia as a teenager in the early 1960’s—traveling the outback, hunting kangaroos, and working odd jobs to earn travel money.

Abstract:
When I was eighteen, I traveled to Australia to get the “wanderlust” out of my system. I met a friend and together we hunted kangaroos and sold the hides for profit. We worked odd jobs at a sheep station for pocket change and did construction work in the Snowy Mountains for travel money. Once, we had to “sing for our supper” to earn money for gas. These experiences made me appreciate all the more, the opportunities I had as a teenager and the luxuries I had taken for granted. This is a true adventure story about traveling, hunting, and working in Australia in the early 1960’s.
