Abstract:
Gladys, the local bag lady, finds herself relishing living in a cabin, no longer a member of the tent city housing the homeless. Still, caring for the other homeless is her main concern until she witnesses a murder and rescues a newborn baby. The police investigation is slowed down when Whiskey Jake arrives to claim his daughter’s body and the baby but withholds the name of the baby’s father. By wanting to be the one to dispense justice he inadvertently puts the life of Gladys and the baby in jeopardy. Will the murderer seek them out or will they be able to outwit him?
