Abstract:
Immigrant’s Loss is set in Cambridge England and the west coast of the United States. An English surgeon, Tom Hoard, immigrates to the States. While in England he had fallen in love with an American visitor, Dora, whom he had lost to Finchley. In the US, apparently healed of this trauma, he lives in contentment with a woman lawyer until Finchley turns up on his operating table, shot. Tom’s obsessive harkening back to the ecstatic affair with Dora destroys his present valuable calm relationship. Finchley’s assailant contrives to frame Hoard who is than forced to return to England.
