Abstract:
When elderly Alma Ian is murdered, a Yankees baseball jacket found at the crime scene points to ten year old neighbor, Adam Singleton. IIgnorant of Adam’s Asperger Syndrome, residents of the Gold Dust Mobile Home Community translate “different” to “guilty.” It falls to Detectives Martin Level and Curtis Pierce to clear Adam’s name before the trauma of police interrogation and wrongful accusations permanently scar the boy. Their task becomes more difficult when Adam’s most valuable baseball card is found at a second homicide. It’s Halloween and Adam is the only one who notices that the Grim Reaper’s sword is coated with blood.
