Jacksonville, Florida
Biography:

In June of 1987, Portia traveled to the base camp of the FDN (Nicaraguan Democratic Forces) to research for this novel about a fictional Contra support organization. During interviews with members of a real-life Contra support group and the combatants they were helping, she gained insight missing from liberal US news coverage. She returned with an enhanced appreciation of freedom, and greater understanding of those who fight and die rather than bend to the will of tyrants. Although CHAIN is a work of fiction about a time past, Portia’s respect for those who sacrificed to help the Contras is unending.
