Abstract:
The earth trembled and skies darkened as Jesus’ battered body hung lifelessly from the cross. John and a distraught cluster of women remained at the cross until the bitter end. What though of Simon Peter, who boldly pledged his life to Jesus hours earlier? He denied Christ three times and disappeared from the scriptures until Easter Sunday. What of the empty hours until the resurrection? Between the Cross and the Empty Tomb fills that void with the muddled fusion of guilt, grief, emptiness, and confusion which Peter could very well have endured in those horrific hours.
