Abstract:
I believe that babies are born with their personalities, essentially preset. Parents and teachers do their best to enhance the positive traits and diminish the negative qualities in order to socialize children to conform to others. It may make their jobs easier, but it may also drain children of their spontaneity and creative nature.
There is a fine line between education and frustration. This story is real -- A preschool child with a dominant personality gets into trouble with her teacher and parents. Life becomes unbearable. She does not understand. She knows what she believes to be the “right” behavior. Why don’t others see it her way? They must be talking about another child.
When she discusses her problem with her friends, her dolls, they become her alter ego. She realizes that in order to be happy, she has to change her attitude, because she is the problem.
