Biography:

PAUL R. CARLSON, Ed.D. left the newsroom for the Presbyterian pulpit. He is the author of six books dealing with such diverse subjects as alcoholism, death and dying, ecumenism and interfaith relations.

A conservative-evangelical, Dr. Carlson served in public relations posts for the United Presbyterian Office of Information, and Union Theological Seminary, both in New York City, as well as for the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland. He was an adjunct instructor at the University of Scranton, a Jesuit institution, at the same time he served as the executive director of the United Churches of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Dr. Carlson received his baccalaureate degree from Barrington College, Barrington, RI (1954), and his master of divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (1960). He also holds three other graduate degrees, including his doctorate in education from New York University (1979).

During his 40-year ministry, Dr. Carlson also served pastorates in Pine Plains, N.Y., Richmond Hill, N.Y., Edenton, N.C., Scranton, PA, and Frankfort, OH.
