R. A. Roth holds two degrees from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, holds a black belt in karate, and teaches at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, his home town. He is also an avid believer in and practitioner of physical fitness training, occasionally drinks alcohol, loves a good barbequed steak, and openly admits that lifestyle congruency has never been his strong suit.
