Biography:
Mel’s family history in golf goes back five generations to St. Andrews Scotland. Jamie Anderson, three-times British Open Champion was his great, great uncle. Great grandfather David Anderson manufactured-exported thousands of golf clubs to the U. S. A. in the late 19th century. By serving a five-year apprenticeship in the 1950’s Mel became his family’s last clubmaker. He has been a New Zealand PGA member since 1969. For many years he owned a successful sporting-goods store in Wellington, New Zealand. From 1993-2007 as the Golf Tournament Director at Braemar Country Club, Tarzana, California, he assisted charities run successful fundraiser tournaments.
